selecttive post

After some trial and error, I've discovered how to include Google AdSense in post pages only. This ensures that no more than the allowed three ads are ever shown on my blogs front page, and I feel it's less intrusive advertising too.

I am already using selective post summaries which features only the first paragraph of my posts on the front page, and expands to the full post when the "read more" link is clicked on. My inline AdSense ads are displayed after the "read more" link, and so are only displayed on the posts unique page.

In order to do this on your own blog, you will need to take the following steps:

  1. Install Hackosphere's selective post summaries hack.
  2. Once you've done this, go to Settings>Formatting in your Blogger dashboard.
  3. Ensure that "Convert line breaks" is off! If you don't do this, Blogger will break up the AdSense code and it won't display properly (if at all!). Or alternatively, make sure your AdSense code is all on one line (though this can be tricky to implement).
  4. Now, scroll down to "Post template". You should already have the template for expandable post summaries here. After the "span id="fullpost" tag, insert your AdSense code within paragraph tags so it looks something like this (don't forget to change the publisher ID to your own!):
